Chess sets are a grand item to collect or to present as gifts
Saturday, November 8th, 2008There are so many extraordinary and beautiful chess sets in the world, they can be a grand item to collect or to give as presents. I have seen stunning chessmen in the flea markets of Isreal and Turkey and in the market places of India. They seem to be a international happening. These fairly priced sets constructed from wood, marble or other local fabrics can be ravishing conversation chessmen or decorative components, even if one does not play chess.
In my past are stories of childhood, an aunt who passed away after I got out of grammar school, and hours learning the game and playing with my younger brother. Instead of maturing into chess, I matured out of it, more distractions and less patience as I traveled toward my mid life. This chess set conjures priceless remembering beyond the broken board and well worn pawns.
