My daughter absolutely loves to dress up! Every time we go shopping she wants to pick a new outfit to add to her dressing up box. She’s three and has more pairs of shoes than me! I know most toddlers and children from this age onwards like to play dress up, but I really would like to encourage it with her, if it’s something she cares about and enjoys doing. I know that dressing up clothes are lots of fun, but I believe that it is an important part of her learning, development and encourages her to explore imaginatively. I think that when she dresses up and acts out different characters, she is improving on her role play skills! Surely this has to be more productive than just sitting down with a toy or in front of the TV.
I spend an awful lot of time online looking for princess dress up outfits and fairy dress up outfits, I can sometimes go a little mad and spend quite a lot of money on the costumes, but I love them too and she looks adorable in them. I have been searching for a nice ballerina dress up outfit for her, as she hasn’t got one of those yet and she really wants one.
I know she probably has enough outfits, but she dresses up so often and gets easily bored with the same costumes. Although when it’s time for an occasion dress up, like someone’s birthday or school let’s pretend dress up day, she always stands out from the other toddlers in her costumes. Whenever I am on the internet I am more than likely looking for new costumes for her, as everyone knows toddlers grow so fast, she isn’t getting much use out of each one before she is too big for it. If you are in the same situation as me and want to pick up some cheap dress up outfits that don’t compromise on quality, get online and start searching.
